Scavenger Hunt - updated plugin

Hey, everyone!

Just a notice that the Scavenger Hunt plugin is now running. This is an updated version that now has a leaderboard. Some things to note:

- You will NOT get added to the leaderboard until you've clicked on a prize.
- The leaderboard should automatically rearrange members from highest to lowest counts as that changes.
- Your leaderboard entry gets updated at the same time you click a prize - after all, the prize has to be collected first.

This is running solely for testing to make sure this new addition functions properly. As such, I would appreciate ALL members participating - as I need to make sure the leaderboard operates properly. This also means that, if someone takes the lead, they slow down so someone else can take the lead. This is to make sure the leaderboard is correct with making sure it goes highest count to lowest count.

Again, this run is for testing only - there is no "end of month" reward. Thank you all for your help.

NOTE: The SHLB link in the navbar takes you to the leaderboard page.

The Scavenger Hunt is running again. I had to fix an error that would tell the member that they didn't have permission to write to the key. Let me know if you get that, or any other, error.

I really need ALL of you to participate - including those who typically do not (Kitty Katt, @deathkatt, Gennari15 to name some).

Feel free to post suggestions / feedback / bugs in this thread.

This is a plugin that will be submitted to the Plugin Library - meaning that thousands of forums may use it - so I need to see if any of you can break it. I would prefer to get any problems fixed before submitting.

I would like to get it submitted by Monday the 29th - but no later than May 1st. So please take the time to hunt. You're looking for an animated candy to click on, and it can show up anywhere. You MUST make a collection before the leaderboard will see you and add you. Click on the SHLB link in the navbar to view the leaderboard.

I stopped at 9 (lives). This should keep my number low enough for someone to advance past it. I did not see any errors while playing and the leaderboard has kept me in the proper position depending on my count.

The Leaderboard is still visible, but you will NO longer find any items to collect. In essence, the plugin (for the most part) is disabled - leaving only the leaderboard visible.

Anyone who wishes to opt-out again, you are free to do so - as testing is officially over. To Opt-Out, click Profile, then click the Groups tab, then scroll down until you see the Scavenger Hunt Opt-Out group - on the right of that group should be a Join (it might show Join Group) button. Just click that button to join that group and you will not see the Scavenger Hunt items to collect nor will you see data in mini-profiles. You'll still see the SHLB link in the navbar, but you won't see any of the Leaderboard data. To opt back in, go to the same place and simply leave that group.

Kitty Katt and @deathkatt - I know you 2 opt out of the Scavenger Hunt, so I have already added the both of you back into the group. If you change your mind and want to play the next time it runs, you can leave the group as outlined above.

Scavenger Hunt RESTART.

Hey, Everyone! I'd like to ask for everyone's help again with testing the Scavenger Hunt. I've got 2 forums (someone else's forums) that's coming up with some odd errors, so I'd like to see if any of those can be re-created here.

There is no need to pace yourself this time around. Collect as many as you want, as often as you want. The keys have been cleared, so everyone is starting at 0 again.

I'm not going to force anyone out of the Opt-Out this time, but I would ask that you help as well (for those who may be opted out). I am asking for EVERYONE to please help with this. If you encounter an error, ANY error, please reply to this thread - be sure to include what you were doing just before the error, what you did when you got the error and any error message you may have received.

I have some theories of why those errors may be happening for them, but I can't fix anything based off of theories - IF a fix is even needed.

I know some of you don't log on here often (tsk tsk - shame on you!), but when you do - PLEASE take a few minutes to collect the candy that randomly shows up. The best place for it to appear is while looking at posts inside of a thread. I would like to see everyone who is tagged below to, at least, get on the leaderboard.

This is going to run until approximately June 1, 2019. There will be a winner's award:

Character in my campaign(s) (NOTE: they do NOT have to currently be in active play to win):

- AD&D - ALL of your characters in my AD&D campaign will receive:
--- 100% XP Boost (waivered, for multi-class characters - does NOT require the use of an XP Waiver)
--- ONE character (if you have more than 1) will "find" a powerful item in-game on the game night scheduled after the Scavenger Hunt closes.

OR

- MRPG - ALL of your characters in my MRPG campaign will receive:
--- 2,500 Karma
--- ONE character (if you have more than 1) will be able to:
----- Get a Power Stunt that ALREADY exists on your character sheet moved to be marked as completed OR
----- Buy a New Power (must be approved) for no cost

If you are NOT in any of my campaigns:
- 100,000 V Cash (added to your current Bank amount) that can be used in the forum store
- (I'm open for ideas for an additional prize - so those not in my campaigns will get 2 prizes if they win)

Hey MSG, I have a point that is not so much an error but more aesthetics. The orange smiley face can be hard to tell when it is lite up. The previous one where it turned green stood out more as a waning.

So far no sight of any errors, that i can tell, heck it could be an error and I just figure its suppose to work.
Maybe these people have other plug ins that are conflicting with yours so its not your work but how others don't like to work with yours. The could have the bade coding.

Yeah, I haven't updated the images for the testing. Once a GM actually wants to run it live, then the images can be changed. I'll see what I can do for the detector images after I get home - since internet is spotty here.

To help you with your test, I have opted back in. While looking at the new posts, I was able to click a few and had encountered no errors during that time.

I do find it strangely odd that there are two others who are on here more than I - yet have very few in their count. It is almost as if they do not read new posts, as that is all I did and I found a total of six.

NOTE: The Scavenger Hunt will now be on an OPT-IN system. This means that you must Opt-In if you want to play. If you don't Opt-In, you won't see any items to find - this is the same effect as if you had previously opted-out. This Opt-In system affects everyone, myself included. Also, the leaderboard link is also affected by this - meaning that you will not see the SHLB link in the navbar if you are not opted-in. As such, that is a good indicator to let you know if you are opted-in or not. If you don't see the SHLB link in the navbar, you're not opted-in.

How to Opt-In:

- Click Profile
- Click the Groups tab
- Scroll down to Scavenger Hunt Opt-In group and click the Join Group button for it
- You are now opted-in - a page refresh should then make the SHLB link show up in the navbar


How to Opt-Out (if opted-in):

- Click Profile
- Click the Groups tab
- Find the Scavenger Hunt Opt-In group and click Leave group
- You are now opted-out - a page refresh should make the SHLB link in the navbar disappear

Most likely it will be my MRPG campaign, as the AD&D would be the most recent one that had run. I try to alternate them, so MRPG will be the next scheduled one. Not sure when I'll be able to schedule it, but it'll be the next one scheduled.

Judge MSG another question if choosing a new power for the MRPG reward at what Rank will it be at? And can i alter it will karma from my pool?

If choosing a new power, you can pick it to be, at max, RM 30 at no cost. Upgrades can be done from the Karma Advancement Fund (if nothing else is being worked on) if you want to take the rank higher.

If you're working on something with your Fund right now, it can still be upgraded later (once your Fund item is done).

So, any upgrading will be from the Fund, not the Pool - just like any other power upgrade.

I believe that i will choose this option and it will go to 8 balls power stunt of bouncing ball as this is required to be able to start the Clear the table Stunt.

Once you have okay'd I shall make changes or karma for both Mez and 8 Ball and to his pwer stunt.
