Elderitch,
This is the actual HTML used for the Events page that lists the steps for Judges/GM's/DM's for setting up a campaign night.

Creating New Calendar Events

Please be sure that you follow these steps in order to create an event. Do NOT combine steps nor skip any steps.

(1) Go to the appropriate Signup board:
(a) For MRPG, it is: Ignin's Game Night Signup OR Elderitch's Game Night Signup OR MSG's Game Night Signup
(b) For FAGE, it is: FAGE Game Night Signup
(c) For AD&D, it is: AD&D Game Night Signup

(2) Click the Create Thread button.

(3) Using the template provided, fill out all of the fields and click the Create Thread button.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the times listed in the Template when creating your signup thread are already in Eastern Time. Also, please do not edit out the (standard start time) from your post if you select 6:30PM. This is to let the Judge, and Members, know that this is the standard, Eastern Time Zone starting time for game nights.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT click the Add Event button while you are creating the thread. This must be done during the edit phase (see next steps).

(4) DO NOT NAVIGATE AWAY! You should be looking at the thread you just made. Click the Edit button to edit your post.

(5) At the top right, you should see an Add Event button. Click it.

(6) In the popup, be sure you UNCHECK the All Day Event option. Then, enter in the Start Date and Time as well as the End Date and Time. The Times MUST be entered in YOUR Time Zone time in the Add Event popup.

(7) Once done, click the Add Event button on the popup. Your event has now been entered on the calendar.

(8) Click the Save Changes button located on the lower right of the post.

This concludes setting up your signup thread and adding it to the calendar. You are now ready to edit the 3 plugins.

For the following plugin edit instructions, I will be referring to the 3 tabs you have up (or should have up) for this.

Tab 1 - this refers to the tab where you see the forum normally.
Tab 2 - this refers to the tab that is the Admin panel.
Tab 3 - this refers to these instructions.

While your tabs may be in a different order, you may want to re-organize them so they go in that order to prevent confusion. Tabs can be dragged and dropped to re-organize them. This way, if I say Tab 1, you'll know that you should be looking at the forum itself (front-end) - that which everyone sees.
Editing the Random News plugin

(1) I would suggest that you right-click the Admin link in the navbar so you you can just switch tabs. If you're keeping this open as well, you should have 3 tabs open: The front-end of the forum, the Admin panel and these instructions. Trust me, it's easier to switch between tabs than to go to another page on the same tab for this.

(2) Once in the Admin panel, mouse over Plugins on the top right. A dropdown menu will appear. Click on Manage. (Note: The shortcut method used to denote this would be: Admin > Plugins > Manage)

(3) From the plugin list, click on Random News. Be sure you are clicking on the name, NOT the Edit button.

(4) On Tab 1, go to the signup thread you made earlier. You should be looking at the actual post you made.

(5) In your address bar, there will be a link to that thread. Copy that link in its entirety.

(6) On Tab 2, be sure you click the News Feeds tab, then locate the line for you. Look under the Link Text field and find the line for you. In the Link URL field directly to the right of it, paste the URL you had just copied.

(7) At the far right of your entry, UNTICK the Skip box. This will make it so it will get displayed. If left ticked, then your entry won't be seen in the news feed.

(8) Be sure you click the Save Changes button, or it won't get saved. This completes the Random News plugin.
Editing the On This Date plugin

(1) On Tab 2, go back to the Admin > Plugins > Manage page and click on the On This Date plugin. Again, click the name, not the Edit button.

(2) Click the Dates tab.

(3) Locate the event that has your name on Line 1 and in the Event Date box, enter the date of your event.

(4) Click the Save Changes button at the bottom (you may need to scroll down to see it). The concludes the edit for the On This Date plugin.
Editing the General Notices - CGI plugin

(1) On Tab 2, go back to the Admin > Plugins > Manage page and click on the General Notices - CGI plugin. Again, click the name, not the edit button.

(2) There will be 4 entries in here for each Judge / DM / GM. Each of them will have your name on Line 1 in the Event Description box. You will only need to modify the description of 1 of those boxes. You'll copy and paste the changes to the other 3.

(3) On Line 6, you'll need to put in your game's description. It's recommended that you copy this from your signup thread. Highlight the entirety of just Line 6 and paste your description in - or type it in, if you don't copy it from your thread.

IMPORTANT: Be sure you do NOT have any other line highlighted before pasting, and be sure you have the entirety of Line 6 highlighted. The easiest way to do that is to place your cursor at the very beginning of Line 6 and hold the SHIFT key then pressing the END key. This should highlight the entire line and nothing else.

(4) On Line 12, find the part that has timestamp=". Just after that quote, you should see a Month (spelled out) and the date and year (among some other things, but you won't need them). Replace the month name with the name of the month your event will happen in. Month names must be spelled out. No abbreviations and correct spelling is needed.

(5) After the month name, there is a space. Be sure that space remains! The number next is the date. Enter in the date of your event. The year will only need to be changed when an event goes into the next year.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT modify anything after the year!

IMPORTANT: If you change your time from the standard 6:30pm (Eastern Time), you will also need to edit the times listed on Line 9.

(6) Copy Lines 4 through 14 by highlighting them. Line 14 won't actually highlight, so be sure all of Line 13 is highlighted.

(7) In each of the other 3 Event Description boxes for you, highlight Lines 4 through 14 and paste in your modification.

(8) On the Event Date box for each, set the appropriate date. The Game Day box should have the date of the event. The others should have dates that are 1, 2 and 3 days prior to the game date.

(9) Click the Settings tab and look in the Title Bar Display section and be sure that the radio selection button is on your name.

(10) Scroll to the bottom and click the Save Changes button. This concludes the edits for the General Notices - CGI plugin.

CANCELING an Event

(1) Go to your signup thread for the event to be canceled.

(2) On your signup thread, do BOTH of the following:
(a) Lock the thread;
(b) Label the thread as Canceled AND Signup Closed (yes, put both labels on it)

(3) Go to the On This Date plugin, and do ONE of the following:
(a) If you are canceling ON GAME DAY, put your game date in ONE (it doesn't matter which one) of the CANCELED events and SAVE; OR
(b) If it's a day or more out, use BOTH of the CANCELED events. Put the GAME DATE in 1 of them AND put the DAY BEFORE GAME in the other and SAVE.

(4) Go to the Random News plugin, and do BOTH of the following:
(a) Put a checkmark in the SKIP option for your event; AND
(b) Remove the ENTIRE Link URL (the one that goes to your thread). Do NOT remove the Link Text - only the Link URL.

(5) You do NOT need to do anything with the General Notices - CGI plugin.

(6) There is no need to send out a PM. If people are checking the forum (as they should be), they will see the cancelation notice.

NOTE: For #3, if you are canceling ON GAME DAY, that means if you are actually canceling on the game date. I.E.: If game date is 1/19, and you are actually canceling if today's date is also 1/19 - in which case, you use #3a. If game date is 1/19, and today's date is 1/18 or before, then you use #3b.
You can now close Tab 2, as you are now done in the Admin panel. If you need further help, please PM me (you can safely ignore the popup that shows up when PMing me with this link - as long as you do not alter the Subject line). This link will automatically fill out the Subject for the PM, but you will need to add in your question(s) in the text body.

Once you are done with these instructions, you can close out this tab (Tab 3). Again, please do NOT give out the link to these instructions to anyone. Since they can't access the Admin panel, there's no need for them to have this link.
Thank you.
