What is a "Navbar Link Popup"?
Simply put, when you go to a certain board, a new link will get added to the navbar. The navbar is that which has: Home Search Messages Calendar ... and so forth.
Please be watchful as you go to different boards to see if there is a new link in the navbar, as a link will only show up when you are looking at a board's thread list. Links are not added for every board, so there will most likely be numerous boards that do not have a new link show up. Now, our new members may not be familiar with forum terminology, so here are a few definitions:
- Home Page: when you first come to Casual Gamers, you are looking at the Home Page.
- Category: While looking at the Home Page, you see "sections". These are categories. Some of our category names are:
--- Community
--- Support (Help!)
--- Marvel RP Group
... and so forth
- Board: These are contained within a category. If we use our Community category as an example, some of the boards in that category are:
--- News & Announcements from the Admin
--- Rules
--- Ventrilo
... and so forth
So, if you were on the Home Page and clicked the Ventrilo board in the Community category, that will take you to the Thread List for the Ventrilo board. This is simply a listing of each thread in that board.
With that in mind, if a Navbar Link Popup (NLP) was set to show up in the Ventrilo board, you would have to click Ventrilo (board name) on the Home Page. Now that you are in the Ventrilo board, if an NLP was assigned to show up there, you would then see it added to the navbar.
To assist with this, I have set up a "test" NLP (I'll remove it after about a week from this post) that will show up in the Ventrilo board. While on the Home Page, look to see what links are already in the navbar. Then, click on the Ventrilo board name to go to the Ventrilo board - you should now see a new link called Vent Test in the navbar. If you go to any other board, that Vent Test link will not be there. This is why you need to watch the navbar when you go to a board's thread list - to see if a new link was added in the navbar.
If you've got any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks!
